The 2020 Cluster Trasporti Italia met electronically on September 29th, at the Confindustria headquarters, to complete the work begun at the annual meeting on July 3rd. Thanks to the wide participation of the members, which made it possible to reach the quorum of 2/3 of the members provided for by the statute, the election of the new president, designated during the previous meeting, was carried out. This is Eng. Ennio Cascetta, a well-known figure in the world of transport. Full professor of Transport Systems Planning at the Federico II University of Naples and lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, currently he also holds the position of Sole Director of Ram-Rete Autostrade Mediterranee, an in-house company of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
He was also scientific coordinator for the drafting of the General Transport and Logistics Plan (PGTL), director of the CNR Second Transport Project, as well as scientific coordinator of various regional and urban plans for mobility. From January 2018 to November 2018 he was also President of Anas Gruppo FS Italiane. Cascetta succeeds the presidency of Enrico Pisino, who in recent years has had the task of guiding the Cluster towards full recognition by the Ministry of Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) and who remains a member of the Strategic and Management Steering Committee (CISG). The second item on the agenda was the increase in registration fees. After the explanation of the reasons that led to this choice by the secretary general of the Cluster, Lucio Sabbadini, a wide debate began at the end of which the Assembly voted by majority for this increase. The annual membership fee therefore rises to 2,000 euros, an amount that will be necessary to meet the many new commitments that the Cluster is called to face following its new legal recognition. Finally, the assembly unanimously approved the 2020 budget, already setting the next appointment on November 20th, when it will meet again to complete, thanks to the statutory changes, the transformation process that will lead the body to better face the challenges ahead in the next three years.
